Stairs that come down to the corner of Hutton Street and Greenwood Terrace. Railroad tracks to the right.

Cincinnati has a lot of stairs up its many hills and over some of its train tracks. They often go unused. Some are hidden, at least from drivers in cars. I found this riding my bike. It took me over some railroad tracks into a neighborhood that otherwise would have taken me miles of roundabout riding to get there. More importantly, I'm not sure I ever would have gotten there because I had little reason to turn down any of those roads. But the stairs, the stairs called to my sense of urban curiosity and my desire to explore.

I'd like to do a series on them someday. You know, when I find the time for that particular creative project.

Columbia Tusculum is said to be Cincinnati's oldest neighborhood.

Maybe this blog knows. I love old pictures of my city, like those found at Old Time Cincy.

Cleaning out grandma's condominium, I came across a book of pen and ink drawings of the city. I'm looking forward to finding some of those locations and offering up comparisons.

I would further make two total grammar / word geek notes. First, '--' as seen above, is meant to be an M-dash. But Blogger does not have such a thing. So, like the typewriters of yore, the M-dash shall forever be two hyphens. Second, Safron Foer uses the serial comma when making a list. This goes against AP style and several other styles. I approve and prefer it. Not that anyone cares what I have to say.

The youngest people in the bar that night. We could not take that title. The Celestial in Mount Adams is beautiful. The food is good. And most importantly, people take their drinking seriously enough to get dressed up for it.
